Hi Cindy! If you’re looking for something most like a home base for visiting the Redwood parks, I’d recommend staying in the Klamath area. Otherwise, you could stay in Orick when visiting Redwood National Park and Prairie Creek State Park and stay in Crescent City when visiting Del Norte Coast and Jedediah Smith State Parks.

We are mid-60s, pretty fit & enjoy hiking 4-7 miles a day generally, s/times more, so hope to do several hikes in each park. Not campers any more so need lodging but I can sort that out once I figure out how long we should stay, where. Will be driving up from Sacramento in April.

Hi Dawn! There are several “easy trails” in Redwood, though few are wheelchair accessible. With a walker, you may be able to manage trails like the Big Tree Wayside trail. I have a full post on the hikes in Redwood National Park that may be useful.
